Communal lounge/ TV room in GuestHouse Azito
This was a very interesting place to stay and represents good value for money. It is similar to a capsule hotel, although the room is bigger than that; it comprises a kind of cupboard with a sliding door and is about 4' - 4' 6" high. There is more to it than just the mattress with enough space to store luggage in the room, although they also provide lockers in the corridor outside as an alternative. Obviously there is no en-suite bathroom, but a good ratio of communal facilities to the number of rooms, so there was never any queue to use the bathrooms or showers. Also, bear in mind that there are no windows, so the room is always dark until you switch on the light. There is however an electric socket, so it is easy to charge or plug-in any electrical appliance and also there was a communal fridge in the corridor for storing food and keeping drinks cool. There is also a communal kitchen although that seemed quite small for the number of guests staying at the hostel. They very helpfully gave me details in advance of the bus to catch from the railway station, although that bus only ran once an hour so if, like me, you just miss it, then it is about a 10-15 minute uphill walk. The tourist information centre outside the station gave me very good directions on how to get here.

Mark

Exceptionally kind, polite and helpful staff who would go to the moon and back to help you and patiently answer all your queries. Convenient location near the station and the high street, comfortable, warm, and clean dorm/room. Fully equipped kitchen and the star attraction is the heater at the reception which should be declared a tourist attraction esp. during the cold winter. PS: On my way back at the Hakone Yumoto station, I was interviewed by a Japanese TV channel. They asked me about my trip to Japan and the experience in Hakone, I have given a shout out to your lovely staff and hostel. Now, if you become world famous, then I am coming back to collect my royalties. :p :)

I got the best hotel/hostel sleep of my life here. The beds are big and comfortable and so is the capsule space. We were allowed to store our bags in the large lockers before check-in and the staff was so helpful. We decided to eat on property and their food was amazing (even now my siblings are talking about it). There are buses to the property from the train station, and if you need to walk TO the station it's mostly downhill. I wish we could've stayed for more than 1 night. Please know that there are many stairs at this property, and no elevator. Though, we didn't find them too bad at all.

Incredible and kind staff, super helpful and welcoming! Coziest vibes, super comfy beds/capsules that felt private and were more spacious then I imagined. Everything at this price point was amazing, stayed an extra night to get a proper nights rest. Quiet and peaceful yet in the common area there’s still people to meet. Close to all the onsens and the main town area where you can eat/shop/take the buses to go sightseeing. Overall the experience I was hoping for, felt so at home would definitely stay here again! Thank you 💕🥰

Liked the separation between lounge and common space with the capsules. Space and privacy were great. Lockers were perfect. However my highlight would be the staff—they were amazing, Shiho was helpful and informative the moment I checked in. She encouraged me to take advantage of the beautiful say since the next two were overcast and raining. The morning staff member on Feb 16 (so sorry I forgot her name!) carried the conversation well and provided info re baggage service at the station to museum and cafe recos!
